we’re also planning to do a bit of surfing on Oahu. Can you recommend a good place to find deals on surfboards? I rather buy something and take it home with me then rent one…we’ll be surfing everyday which makes me think that rentals would get expensive.

I got a 1997 Land Cruiser that I plan on making my off road surf mobile. It has a rust spot just under the rear window and superficial rust on the top of the back door. Other than that, there seems to be no rust anywhere else. I am thinking of rust proofing it but some people say that it’s a waste of money because after being15 years old, even a small amount of rust not visible in the inner pannel will continue to grow underneath the protectant and I am concerned about seizing up the bolts and what not. Some say just wash it well every time I go to the beach and it will be Okay. What do you think?

I’m looking to surf the Gold Coast of Australia in January. I have never been there and am trying to make a decision whether to rent a normal rental car or if I should rent a SUV? Are there spots that require an offroad vehicle? Are all the spots basically accessable by paved roads or is it worth it to get a 4×4 vehicle?
